Mário Henriques, born in 1973, has been a Fado musician since the age of 13. He began playing guitar and quickly started studying Portuguese guitar.
At 18, he joined the cast of the fado house A Taverna de São Jorge, invited by the renowned musician Jorge Barradas. He also served as the guitarist at the Typical Restaurant "O Fado" for four years, accompanying some of the best national fado singers, such as Lenita Gentil, Vasco Rafael, Maria da Fé, Carlos Zel, Cidália Moreira, Deolinda Rodrigues, and Fernanda Baptista, among others. He was a member of the group Quadrifonia, which fused classical music with Portuguese popular music.
He collaborated extensively with the Engineering Fado Group of the University of Porto, deepening his knowledge of Coimbra Fado. He also performed with the Fado and Baladas de Coimbra Group. He participated in the musical "Linha curva, Linha turva," directed by Ricardo Pais, and took part in a concert as part of Porto 2001 - European Capital of Culture, with several of the best fado singers of the time, featuring Pedro Caldeira Cabral and Ricardo Rocha.
He has a long career as a soloist and accompanist, participating in numerous recordings. Currently, he is also the artistic director of the projects Fado na Baixa and La Portuguese in the city of Porto.
